1. The research

To conduct this research, we looked at the price lists of a large number of nail stylists in both countries. Per province, we searched for at least 50 nail salons to get an overview of the different artificial nail prices.

Of course, it is important to keep in mind that prices in a beauty salon depend on many factors. For example, the experience and level of the nail stylist can have a big influence on the price. The quality of the products used also influence the price. In addition to these factors, it is also important to remember that different techniques entail different prices. A French manicure, baby boom or extra nail art will always be more expensive than a simple manicure. In some cases, there is also a small difference when a nail stylist works with, for example, polygel instead of acrylic or gel. It is not often that a nail stylist charges a price difference for this, so we can ignore the deviation in our research.

We do recommend that you always look for nail salons with average rates. In a cheap salon, you can often run the risk that unsafe products are used or that the staff is less well trained. In very cheap nail salons, human trafficking is sometimes even found.

The price difference between the neighbouring countries Belgium and the Netherlands is quite striking. The Netherlands is generally up to €5 cheaper than Belgium! A gel polish manicure in the Netherlands costs an average of €27.40, while in Belgium you will pay an average of €31.14. For gel or acrylic nails you are also much cheaper in the Netherlands, here you pay an average of €54.54. In Belgium this comes to €61.43, a remarkable difference!

2. Nail studio prices Belgium

In Belgium, it is best to go to Hainaut for a manicure, where you pay an average of €26.64 for a gel polish manicure and for acrylic or gel nails you will have to pay an average of €52.73. This is still a considerable difference with the most expensive province of Luxembourg, where you pay €30.50 for gel polish and €65.41 for artificial nails.

It is striking that Luxembourg is the most expensive province for manicures. We have found that you should cross the language border for your manicure! The total average in Wallonia is almost three euros lower than in Flanders.

All treatments are noticeably the cheapest in Hainaut. However, the most expensive province is not always Luxembourg. A gel polish manicure is namely more expensive in all of Flanders, with the most expensive Flemish province being Flemish Brabant . Artificial nails with extensions and their after-treatments are again the most expensive in Luxembourg, but for natural nails we have to go back to Flanders.

As in every study, there are also some striking outliers. The most expensive gel polish manicure in Belgium comes to a nice €55. For gel or acrylic nails, there is a studio in Luxembourg where you have to pay €112, which is almost twice as much as the average in the whole of Belgium!

3. Nail studio prices Netherlands

In the Netherlands, it is best to look for a nail studio in Flevoland, where you pay an average of €26.68 for a gel polish manicure and for gel or acrylic nails will pay you an average of €52.35. The most expensive province in the Netherlands is Zeeland, where you pay an average of €28.34 for gel polish and €54.70 for other artificial nails.

However, these provinces are not the cheapest or the most expensive for all treatments. For example, in Overijssel you are even cheaper off for a gel polish manicure with €25.35 than in Flevoland with €26.68. For this treatment you will spend a little more money in South Holland, here you pay €29.02.

For artificial nails with extensions, it is best to go to North Holland, where you pay an average of €52.21. For artificial nails without extensions, Flevoland is the cheapest at €38.16. The most expensive provinces for these treatments are Limburg at €56.88 and Zeeland at €45.06. There are also notable outliers in the Netherlands. For gel polish, there are two nail studios where you pay €47.50. For gel or acrylic nails, the highest amount is €90 in a nail salon in Drenthe. These amounts are both considerably lower than the maximum amounts in Belgium. So you can see once again that you pay a bit more for a manicure in Belgium.
