1. The different types of brushes
Acrylic brushes are distinguished by the length of their bristles and have a long, pointed tip. Gel brushes come in a variety of shapes, including rounded and straight gel brushes. Nail art brushes also come in a variety of shapes and lengths, depending on the specific purpose for which you need them.

2. What is the difference between an acrylic and gel brush?
The biggest difference between an acrylic brush and a gel brush lies in the shape of the brush. An acrylic brush is characterized by a precise and sharp point, which makes it easy to distribute the acrylic mass accurately at the cuticles. In addition, an acrylic brush has a wider belly, the part of the brush that holds the monomer. The point of the brush is used to shape the acrylic bead and apply it to the nail.
Gel brushes, on the other hand, have a flat shape with a straight or oval tip. These brushes have shorter bristles to provide more firmness. This is because gel is heavier and the brush should not bend or sag when you apply gel.
3. How do I clean my brush?
It is very important to clean your nail brushes properly, as this will prolong their lifespan. Be careful not to use acetone, nail polish remover or oil, as this can damage the bristles. Below we explain how to clean your nail brushes.
To clean a gel brush or nail art brush, it is best to use a clear gel, base coat or top coat. Apply a small amount of the clear gel, base or top coat to a lint-free cellulose swab and rub your brush until it is completely clean. If you have worked with color, continue rubbing until all the color has disappeared from the brush. Then remove the excess product with a dry wipe. Please note: if you clean your brush with a product that cures under a UV lamp, avoid UV light and direct sunlight. This can cause the product to harden in the bristles, resulting in damage. After cleaning your brush, it is important to store it properly. It is recommended to always place a protective cap over the bristles. The next time you want to use your brush, remove the clear gel, base or top coat with a cleanser on a wipe.
To clean acrylic brushes you need acrylic liquid (monomer), the cleaning process for acrylic brushes is different than for gel and nail art brushes. Soak your acrylic brush in acrylic liquid for some time. Then wipe the brush on a lint-free wipe. Repeat this procedure several times until the brush is completely cleaned and free of acrylic residue. If there is still acrylic stuck in your acrylic brush, you can use a dotting tool to loosen the acrylic. After the acrylic is removed, you need to soak your brush again in acrylic liquid and wipe it on a wipe. Repeat this procedure until your acrylic brush is completely cleaned.
4. What you should never do with your nail brush
There are a few things you should absolutely avoid when using and caring for your brushes. Following these guidelines and cleaning and storing your brushes properly can help extend their lifespan.
- Never clean your brush with acetone, remover or oil, as this can damage the bristles.
- Make sure to always put the cap on your brush or keep your brush in a case to avoid dust building up in the bristles.
- Never pull on the bristles if a product has dried in your brush, this can damage the brush.
- Never cut the bristles of your brush as this will disrupt the shape and functionality of the brush.
- If you have too much liquid in your brush, gently wipe off the excess liquid to avoid breaking the bristles.
5. How should I properly store and store my brush?
Properly storing your brushes is important to extend their lifespan. We recommend storing your brush in a case with special compartments. This way, your brush is always protected, even if you accidentally forget to put the protective cap over your bristles. If your brush already has a cap, you can store it wherever you want. The cap provides good protection for the bristles and also keeps their original shape.
6. Last resort to save your brush
If the bristles of your brush are completely spread out, there is one last resort you can try.
Start by thoroughly cleaning your brush with a cleanser on a wipe. Then briefly dip the bristles in boiling water and gently pat dry. Then apply a little clear gel to the bristles before storing the brush. If necessary, you can repeat these steps until the bristles are completely closed again.
